Prime Minister Victor Ponta would resume his duties as prime minister today

Prime Minister Victor Ponta would resume his duties as prime minister today. Back home after a knee surgery in Turkey, Victor Ponta asked the head of state to take note, according to law, of resuming his work in the government and of the termination of interim status in this function. On the 22nd of June, at the request of the head of the government, Gabriel Oprea was appointed interim prime minister under a decree signed by President Klaus Iohannis. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)

Bogdan Aurescu considers that Romania is an European model in the protection of national minorities rights

Romania is an European model and even exceeds international standards in the protection of rights of the national minorities, considers Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu. Attending the international conference „Ethnic minorities in Europe – Challenges and Perspectives”, Minister Aurescu stated that Romania protects the identities of national minorities and supports their involvement in decision-making on Romanian society as a whole. „Romania has managed to create a true intercultural model of interaction between the majority and minority”, said Bogdan Aurescu. At the conference held in Timisoara, Bogdan Aurescu highlighted the contribution of the German minority in the Romanian society and stressed that between Romania and Germany there is a sustained dialogue to strengthen the measures taken for the benefit of the this minority. Romanian Foreign Ministry organizes the first edition of  „Romanians Abroad” meetings, a forum for discussion on the relationship between the country and the diaspora in the context of globalization and European integration. The meetings aim to bring together specialists in foreign policy, researchers, journalists, members of civil society and also any voice that can contribute in terms of identifying new opportunities for action, stresses the Department for Relations with Romanians Abroad.  (RADIO ROMANIA reports)
