Romanian Defence Minister Mihnea Motoc visited NATO Headquarters

Romanian Defence Minister Mihnea Motoc was yesterday in Brussels where he said that Romania has a clear view of the security situation in the region in which it is located and also of the Euro-Atlantic security. He met with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at NATO Headquarters and with General Petr Pavel, Chairman of the NATO Military Committee. During the dicussions with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at NATO Headquarters in Brussels Romanian Defence Minister Mihnea Motoc talked about the manner in which Romania is on schedule on the functioning of the 2 structures of NATO on its territory and about the way  in which Romania has multiplied the exercises and the troops for NATO’s Rapid Reaction Force. Mister Motoc also said that Romania attaches a great importance to security picture of the Black Sea and that NATO understood the need to ensure
an allied, persistent and consistent presence at the Black Sea. On the Resolute Support NATO mission in Afghanistan, Mihnea Motoc said Romania will keep in 2016 its commitment level of 2015, with almost 650 troops. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)

Europe is in great difficulty regarding migration issues, says Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos

Romanian Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos says that Europe is in great difficulty regarding migration issues and a solution must be found through dialogue between all member states of the European Union. In an interview with France 24 and Radio France International stations, at the end of his visit în France, he underlined that Romania is willing to make, along with other states, efforts for the assimilation and integration of the immigrants, however not on the basis of a mechanism based on mandatory quotas, but a volunteer one. Dacian Ciolos also said that, currently, the Schengen Area is threatened and in these circumstances a better control at the external borders of the European Union is needed. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)

Transfer of Authority ceremony in a multinational military exercise took place at the Mihail Kogalniceanu air base. This is about a contingent of marines and sailors of the Black Sea, the Balkans and the Caucasus regions which promotes regional security and enables a rapid response to crisis under directives of the United States European Command and of the United States Naval Forces Europe-Africa.  (RADIO ROMANIA reports)
