Ministry of National Defense will hold military and religious ceremonies dedicated to Veterans Day

Ministry of National Defense will hold tomorrow military and religious ceremonies dedicated to Veterans Day in all major garrisons in the country and at commemorative monuments in the Czech Republic, Republic of Moldova, Russian Federation, Slovakia and Hungary. Today, on the eve of Veterans Day, the National Office for Heroes Memory has organized a round table entitled „Dialogue between generations”. Students from several high schools in the capital asked questions to veterans of the Second World War and also to officers returning from theaters of operations. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)

Meeting between Titus Corlatean and Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs, Hoyt Brian Yee

Senator Titus Corlatean discussed in Washington with the Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs, Hoyt Brian Yee, about the Romania-US strategic partnership. According to a press release, Corlatean told American authorities that our country expects that after the completion of the electoral process in the United States concrete solutions for our country’s inclusion in the Visa Waiver Program to be identified. The two officials also spoke about the attention given by the United States to countries on the eastern flank of NATO in the current international context. So, US administration supports the Alliance partners in the region – Republic of Moldova and Ukraine – and promotes the principle of extending it. Both Corlatean and Hoyt Brian Yee stressed the importance of fighting corruption in Romania. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)

Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued several warnings for Romanians who want that in the upcoming period to arrive in Greece, Bulgaria or Croatia. Those who want to go to Greece should know that from Saturday 18:00 until Monday at 10:00 Railway Workers organization will be on strike, so in this period trains and suburban rail transport will be interrupted. Romanians intending to transit, or travel in Croatia are warned that due to Easter holidays and thorough customs checks triggered at the beginning of the immigrant crisis it is possible that the waiting time at the border to grow. The crossing points between Croatia and Slovenia, but also between Croatia and Serbia are especially targeted. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also warns that in Bulgaria a number of traffic restrictions for vehicles with a weight exceeding 12 tons, including trailers and semi-trailers, will enter into force. Romanians traveling abroad are advised to access the website of the the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs  and to use the application „Travel safely” in order to receive information and travel tips. The new European Union Customs Code applies also for Romania

Starting on Sunday, May 1, 2016, the European Union’s Customs Code and its implementing provisions and guidelines will be applicable in their entirety in Romania. The package includes specific common procedures of member states and it connects between them the information system of the the 28 administrations. The new Customs Code will reorganise the customs regimes in a new structure. The novelty is the authorized economic operator – announced Claudiu Ardeleanu, general director of the General Customs Directorate. „Besides reducing the number of customs controls, priority in control, the document provides some tax incentives”, stressed Claudiu Ardeleanu.
