Romania, present at Cannes with five motion pictures

Five Romanian films compete in various sections of the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, which starts today. „Sierranevada,” a new feature of director Cristi Puiu and „Baccalaureat” by Cristian Mungiu have been selected for the official competition, while „Dogs” directed by Bogdan Mirica, runs in the „Un Certain Regard” section. Two short films co-directed by Catalin Rotaru, Gabi Virginia Sarga and Alexandru Badea will compete in the competition of short films, respectively in the Cinefondation section. „Baccalaureat”, the movie directed by Cristian Mungiu – who is at his third participation in the Cannes official competition – will have its premiere in Romania at the same time with its premiere at the prestigious festival on the French Riviera. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) will publish on Wednesday the findings of the Executive Board in Washington on the report regarding the last mission in Bucharest. Romania has made significant progress in correcting imbalances and restore growth, specified then the IMF team, but the fiscal relaxation in a time when consumption was already in sharp increase, or the adoption of legislative initiatives, such as payments, jeopardize the hard-won achievements, IMF experts added. They also recommended maintaining prudent policies and the resumption of structural reforms so that debt can be brought under control, state enterprises sector to be streamlined and restructured and the administration improved. Anti-Corruption Summit begins în London

Anti-Corruption Summit begins în London, event where Romania will be represented by a delegation led by deputy Prime Minister Costin Borc and Justice Minister Raluca Pruna. The topics to be discussed at the meeting hosted by British Prime Minister David Cameron include government transparency, the enforcement of anti-corruption laws at international levels and information confidentiality at corporation level. The summit aims to establish a set of measures leading to exposing acts of corruption, so that there will not be any possibility for the guilty persons to evade law. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)

Pupils and students will be entitled to an unlimited number of tickets with 50% discount starting this autumn

Starting this autumn when the new school year will begin pupils and students will be entitled to an unlimited number of tickets with 50% discount. Until now they benefited only 12 discount trips per year for Interregio trains, but the authorities want to encourage them to use rail transport – explained Transport Minister, Dan Costescu.
Dan Costescu: ” Additional tickets bureaucracy and even intermediate badges will be removed. Submitting a student card will be enough, a card which will have either a standardized form or a sticker applied on it that gives it that unique code so as to be recognized by the seller. Hereunder the ticket will be bought directly”. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)
