The Prince of Wales inaugurates Professional Formation Center in the Romanian village of Viscri

Prince Charles, the heir to the British throne, is arriving today in Romania to inaugurate a new professional formation center in the village of Viscri, supported by HRH Charitable Foundation. The foundation is dedicated to preserve architectural heritage, support agriculture and sustainable development in Romania.

This year, there will be 12 courses benefiting nearly 150 people in rural areas of Transylvania and Moldova. Before leaving for Transylvania, Prince Charles is going to meet President Klaus Iohannis and Prime Minister Dacian Cioloş, according to a press release by the British Embassy, quoted by RADIO ROMANIA.

The head of state previously received Prince Charles at Cotroceni Palace last year when they discussed about supporting Romania’s natural and historical heritage.

Prince Charles is one of the strongest supporters of our country’s traditions whom he promotes every time he gets the opportunity. Queen Eilzabeth’s son has visited Transylvania on many occasions over the last years, where he purchased and restored several properties.

Cancer patients in Romania have very little trust and expectations from the authorities – study reveals

More than 5% of Romanians declared they had been dignosed with cancer during their lifetime and 20% said they had at least one family member diagnosed with this illness, according to an IMAS study commissioned by the Center for Innovation in Medicine and published today in Bucharest. The interviews were conducted by phone this April.

Dr. Marius Geanta, president of the Center for Innovation in Medicine: Generally speaking, cancer patients have very little trust and very little expectations from authorities in Romania. Three out of four Romanians consider that innovative oncology treatments reach our country much too late. 45% of all people diagnosed with cancer believe their illness is a synonym to imminent death, a reality that is not in tune with oncological discoveries over the last decades. For instance, access to modern treatments has seen cases of people with advanced malignant melanoma surviving for as long as 12 years. Five years ago, the survival rate was of only three or four months for such a diagnostic.

The study will be handed over to all relevant authorities and institutions involved in oncologic diagnosis and treatment and doctors from the Center for Innovation in Medicine wish this document be consulted by the MPs as well, RADIO ROMANIA reports.

The same study revealed private sector hospitals and doctors are most trusted by the patients from all components of the healthcare system. 66% of the interviewees said they manifested a lot of trust in Romanian doctors, but state-owned hospitals receive the lowest level of trust, only 35%, right behind the Romanian pharma industry, the Romanian College of Physicians, National Health Insurance House of Romania (CNAS) and the Health Ministry.
