State visit of German President Joachim Gauck in Romania

Authorities in Bucharest told German President Joachim Gauck that for Romania the relationship with Germany is a privileged one and also one of strategic importance. Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos presented him the opportunities which our country currently offers for foreign investors and President Klaus Johannis said that the fight against corruption is extremely difficult and complicated for Romania. In formal declarations made after talks at the Cotroceni Palace, President Joachim Gauck stressed that Germany closely follows the reforms and the fight against corruption in our country.
Joachim Gauck: „Justice is able to provide solutions to existing problems. I would like to emphasize in particular the work of the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) from which starts a signal directed not only to the economy, business environment but also to politics. It is one of the main pillars of the reform process. We want to strengthen the work for example of the DNA as the third power in the state”. After the German foreign minister recently said that NATO’s actions on the eastern flank irritate Russia, President Joachim Gauck explained in Bucharest that Germany does not deny the evidences and the danger, but it wants a more favorable climate in relations with Moscow. The Government will make an initial assessment of the damages caused by floods across the country

An initial assessment of the damages caused by floods across the country will be made this morning, at the Government. Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos convened the perfects to a video conference. According to the most recent information, two people have died after extreme weather phenomena in recent days and dozens of families were forced to leave their homes destroyed either by water or wind and hail. Two Radio Romania productions have been awarded prizes at the New York Festivals World’s Best Radio Programmes. At the Best Drama section „Green Cat”, directed by Mihnea Chelaru won the silver medal while „Over the Rainbow” show, written and directed by Mihnea Chelaru and Ion Puican, got the bronze one. Since 1982 New York Festivals World’s Best Radio Programmes has been awarding the best productions by radio channels, networks and independent producers from all over the world.
