Klaus Iohannis says that a strong European Union and a deeper integration of Romania remain national strategic objectives, given that the destiny of Europe is facing problems such as migration, terrorism or Brexit. Present at the meeting of the Group of the European People’s Party, which takes place in Bucharest, the Head of State said that it is a mutual interest that the European Union and United Kingdom to maintain a close relationship after Brexit. „It is important”, said Klaus Iohannis, „that the negotiation process to be managed through an inclusive dialogue, in a transparent, orderly and predictable way. The negotiation must be conducted in accordance with the provisions of treaties and with the framework decided at the European Council meeting on June 29 this year. Here I refer to the principle of no negotiation without notice but also to fully assume the fact that the access to the Union’s internal market implies the acceptance of the four freedoms”. The first F16 fighter jets belonging to Romanian Air Force arrive today at Fetesti military airfield. Yesterday, the Portuguese Air Force handed over six of the 12 multirole aircraft bought by our country with over 600 million euros. By the end of the year, the Romanian Air Force will receive another three planes and the last 3 will arrive next September. Specialists consider that Romania needs at least 36 such fighter jets and authorities are already looking for alternatives for the purchase of a second squadron. F16 is the most successful multi-role aircraft in the world, being constantly used in most military operations taking place around the globe. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)

Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes the publication of the international commission’s results clarifying the circumstances of the crash of flight MH17, according to which the Malaysian civil aircraft shot down in 2014 in the eastern Ukrainian separatist was hit by a rocket, launched in a war zone controlled by pro-Russian rebels. The commission’s action is a rigorous and independent act meant to clarify the circumstances of the crash and to produce findings that can lead to bring about justice, according to a press release. The Foreign Ministry in Bucharest calls upon all states that are able to support the investigation to cooperate fully in identifying, establishing and bringing those responsible to justice. On 17 July 2014, Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 crashed in eastern Ukraine while flying between Amsterdam and Kuala Lumpur. There were 298 people on board. No one survived. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)
