Bacau will become European City of Sport in 2017

Bacau will become European City of Sport in 2017 along with several dozens cities in the European Union. The decision was taken in Brussels, in the European Parliament. European Commissioner Corina Cretu pointed out that thus the city will have an extra chance of developing.
Corina Cretu: „We are very open, at the European Commission, in everything that concerns the development of this area, the north-east zone, which is one of the poorest areas not only in Romania, but also in the EU. Therefore, any investment in this region means an investment in the future, an investment in our children’s future and I am very glad that the city of Bacau can be an example not only for the country, for Romania, but for the EU too”.
