The visit to Israel of Romanian Foreign Minister

Foreign Minister Lazar Comanescu appreciates as excellent the relations between Romania and Israel. He had a series of meetings in Jerusalem with Israeli government members and representatives of Knesset – the parliament in Jerusalem. In addition to meetings with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and with Foreign Minister, Lazar Comanescu also met with the Minister for National Security and Strategic Affairs and with the chairman of Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee in Knesset. „It is a visit that is part of the normal course of dialogue that develops and takes place between Romania and Israel, between the governments of the two countries”, said Lazar Comănescu. Romanian Foreign Minister visited „Yad Vashem” memorial, where he took part in Eternal Flame lighting ceremony, laid a wreath in the Hall of Remembrance and signed in the Book of Honor of Memorial in Jerusalem. President Klaus Iohannis is pleased with the government’s work. He showed, in the town of Cluj-Napoca, that Romania has an economic growth, a very good macroeconomic situation and it is a very stable country. Attending a debate on European themes organized by Babes-Bolyai University, Klaus Iohannis talked about economic growth and creating new jobs as a means of European Union’s progress and he expressed Romania’s availability to participate in deepening the European integration process. „Our position is clear – we support the strengthening of the European project and we want to be part of the core of Union’s integration. For us, further integration at European Union level remains a strategic objective, closely linked to our long-term national development”, said Klaus Iohnnis. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)

Romania reconfirms its support for strengthening the relations between Israel and the European Union – Romanian Foreign Minister Lazar Comanescu told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday in Jerusalem. The two officials also discussed about the organization of the third joint meeting of the two governments. „I noted with satisfaction”, said Lazar Comanescu, „how our bilateral relationship evolves, but also our cooperation in various multilateral formats highlighting the opportunities that exist in both sides to further consolidate them, be it for economic dimension. Here I would particularly like to mention areas such as information and information technology, cybernetics, cybernetics security, research and development, energy, tourism, agriculture, infrastructure, relations between academic institutions in Romania and Israel”.
