The World Bank has improved its estimates for Romania’s economy advance

The World Bank has improved its estimates for Romania’s economy advance this year to 5.1 % from 4 %, as estimated in June. According to the Europe and Central Asia Economic Update the international financial institution warned that the 5.1 % leap in the Romanian economy this year will be followed in 2017 by a slow-down of the increase to 3.8 % and 3.4% two years later. The World Bank says that budget deficit is expected to increase and recommends the government in Bucharest to keep public spending and tax system under control so as to prevent entry into the excessive deficit procedure. In the report it is also mentioned that the approaching December 2016 general elections increase the risk of a slow-down in the implementation of structural reforms. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has recently estimated that Romania will register this year the highest economic growth in Europe, 5 %, and the European Commission revised upwarded this index, to 5.2 % (RADIO ROMANIA reports)
