Romanian Senator’s report on the right to labor of domestic workers has been turned into a Council of Europe’s resolution

The Permanent Commission of the Council of Europe’s Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) has adopted a resolution concerning the „Right to labor of domestic workers, especially women”, in Europe. The document was adopted based on a report drawn up by the Romanian Senator Viorel Badea, who is a member of the Romanian delegation to the PACE. In his exposure, Senator Badea has shown that the domestic work should be regarded as an integrant part of the labor market, as real work, with all the rights and duties that ensue from this status. He also underlined the need that Council of Europe member states should sign the Convention on domestic workers and the Recommendation no. 201 on this issue, which are international judicial tools that have been adopted by the International Labor Organization in 2011.

Romania will submit its candidacy for hosting the headquarters of the European Medicines Agency

Romania will candidate for the relocation to Bucharest of the European Medicines Agency, whose current headquarters are in London and need to be moved after Britain’s withdrawal from the European Union. The Government led by Sorin Grindeanu has decided on Wednesday to allocate 30,000 euros to the Ministry of Health, in order to draw up a strategy to promote the country’s candidacy. The European Medicines Agency’s main responsibility is to promote and protect public health, by assessing and supervising the drugs meant for human use.

Air traffic controllers have resumed negotiations with Romatsa administration, after suspending the general strike

The air traffic controllers who were on general strike on Tuesday have resumed discussions with the Romatsa administration and suspended the protest. However, they warned that a failure in discussions for a new collective work contract might trigger a new protest anytime. The Bucharest Court has ruled on Tuesday that the strike was legal. During the three hours of protest on Tuesday, flights were disrupted on Romanian airports, as well as those that crossed the national air space.

Grand Prix Nova Festival, organized by Radio Romania, is taking place at Marshall Garden Hotel in Bucharest

During the third day of the Grand Prix Nova Festival, organized by Radio Romania, at Marshall Garden Hotel in Bucharest, radio theatre plays from radio channels in Belgium, Australia, UK, Czech Republic, Ireland and Myanmar will be heard. Starting at 8 pm, the Irish artist Bernard Clarke, who is a member of the Grand Prix Nova 2017 jury, will host a workshop. The entrance to the festival is free.
