Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis will be meeting his American counterpart Donald Trump on Friday at the White House, with whom he will have one-on-one and official talks. Ahead of the meeting, he will meet with the United States Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, at the State Department. Later, President Klaus Iohannis will make a press statement at the headquarters of the Embassy of Romania in Washington DC. Security and defense are key components of the Strategic Partnership between Romania and the United States, said yesterday Romanian President in a debate hosted by the Heritage Foundation in Washington, a prestigious analysis and external policy strategy center. Tomorrow’s meeting at the White House will be important not only at political level, but it will also have a major positive impact on the public in Romania, on the Romanian community in the United States, on the business communities in our countries, said Klaus Iohannis. „I wish very much to have a very good first contact with President Trump. I want to convince him that together we can make the partnership more solid, more profound. We will certainly discuss security issues on the eastern flank, but also about economic issues. We still need American investors and other things which are certainly on my agenda and on President Trump’s agenda” said President Klaus Iohannis. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)

Romania has the highest infant mortality rate in European Union, as the number of births decreases. Our country also faced an increase of teenage pregnancy in recent years. The Vice President of the Romanian Society of Paediatrics Professor Doina Plesca pointed out that multidisciplinary medical teams are needed in order to take care of people at risk. „It is important for us pediatricians on the one hand”, said Professor Doina Plesca, „to get involved in what education of the new generation means, to take all the steps past those who decide in terms of strengthening school education, insertion of children from disadvantaged families into school and practically a compulsory subject – sexual education. Doina Plesca added that there are about 2,400 pediatricians in Romania which leads to the impossibility of solving all the problems which arise. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)
The 24th edition of the International Theater Festival begins in Sibiu
The 24th edition of the International Theater Festival begins in Sibiu, the biggest event of performing arts in Romania and one among the most important in the whole world. For 10 days, the city and its surroundings will turn into a giant scene, on which nearly 3,300 artists from over 70 countries will climb. There will be over 500 performances and events and the theme of this edition is love, said the Director of Sibiu International Theatre Festival, Constantin Chiriac. „The theme of the festival is love”, said Constantin Chiriac. We bring offerings for what is the most complex and powerful on earth. The International Theater Festival is a force unit and at the same time a formula to show love the way we can meet in few communities.
