The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a travelling warning for Greece where, on Symi island and in some towns in Attica region, a state of emergency was declared, due to torrential rain and flooding. Romanian citizens that need aid can call the phone numbers of the Romanian Embassy in Athens, that can be found on the internet page of the ministry.

Public debate held by the health committee of The Lower House, on Wednesday, on the vaccination draft

Yesterday, the health committee of The Lower House held a public debate on the vaccination draft. The meeting was attended by representatives of the civil society and non-governmental organizations, parents and doctors. The majority were in favor of vaccination not being compulsory. Only 20 of the participants to the debate were in favor of a compulsory vaccination of the population. The others pleaded for respecting the right to choose and for eliminating from the draft the sanctions applied to patients or doctors who refuse this form of immunization. The draft, in the form approved by the Upper House, bans unvaccinated children from state nurseries, kindergartens and schools. It also stipulates fines of up to 10,000 lei for parents who refuse to vaccinate their children. The Lower House, that has the final decision on this matter, has received proposed amendments that include jail punishment and restricting rights for parents who fail to provide medical reasons for not vaccinating their children.

Employees of The Fee and Intervention for Agriculture Agency announce a strike, in protest against the wage law

Employees of The Fee and Intervention for Agriculture Agency in several counties across the country have announced that today, between 9:00 and 12:00 am, they will stop working, in protest against the future wage law. By introducing this law, they say, wages would drop by amounts ranging between 700 and 2,800 lei, starting next year. Minister of agriculture Petre Daea said that protests will not be held, without making further comments.

King Mihai’s state of health is frail but stable

King Mihai’s state of heath is very frail but stable, for the time being, said Andrew Popper, Master of the Royal Household, in an intervention, last night, on the public television. He explained that Swiss doctors cannot provide information about the king’s health because the Swiss law prevents them from doing so. Doctors have to respect the medical confidentiality and the patient’s intimacy, he added.
