The Romanian Defense Minister, Mihai Fifor, has said that 2018 will be a year dedicated to the endowment of the Naval Forces, and he will submit to the government on Wednesday the plan related to four multifunctional corvettes. The leader of the opposition USR Party has asked Foreign Minister Melescanu to resign

The leader of the Save Romania Union (USR) Dan Barna has asked for the resignation of the Foreign Minister, Teodor Melescanu, due to a statement deemed as anti-European. Relating European funds to „other elements” would amount to a „grave violation of the Union’s principles” – Melescanu has said on Thursday, as information from Brussels suggested that respect for the rule of law might become a condition for the release of European funds to member countries. Melescanu has made this statement in a press-conference with his Polish counterpart. The European Union has criticized and sanctioned Poland for its failure to respect the rule of law.
