The Romanian Foreign Minister has met his Hungarian counterpart in Bucharest

The Romanian Foreign Minister Teodor Melescanu has held talks in Bucharest on Monday with his Hungarian counterpart Peter Szijjarto about developments in the bilateral relation and prospects of advancing dialogue on issues of common interest. Cooperation between Romania and Hungary could bring a historic progress as far as Hungarian energy security is concerned, according to Mr. Szijjarto. He also said that by the end of 2020, Romania would finalize the technical conditions for gas exports to Hungary. Referring to the national minorities, he Hungarian minister has underlined his country’s desire to continue cooperation with Romania, based on mutual respect. In this context, Peter Szijjarto also spoke about the situation in Ukraine, where education in the maternal language has been limited and Romanians living there are affected. The Hungarian minister also met presidents of the two chambers in the Romanian parliament, Calin Popescu Tariceanu and Liviu Dragnea.

Radio Romania has signed a partnership agreement with the Romanian Television

The Romanian Broadcasting Society (SRR) and the Romanian Television Society (TVR) have signed a partnership agreement on Tuesday, which will serve as a basis for cooperation in communication and information activities for the Romanian citizens, with cultural, educational and social implications. The agreement is aimed at mutual promotion of the two societies and also of several non-commercial and humanitarian campaigns, as well as common artistic and cultural projects and cooperation to promote other projects by the two societies. The document was signed by the President and General Director of  SRR Georgica Severin and the Acting Director of TVR, Doina Gradea.

The Regional Institute of Oncology in Iashi is in quarantine, after a patient has died because of the flu

The Regional Institute of Oncology in the Romanian city of Iashi is in quarantine, after a patient died on Monday evening, because of the flu. The woman suffered from leukemia and was recently diagnosed with a flu. Another ten patients that have cancer and were tested positive from the influenza virus are in the same situation, and five of them are critically ill. Doctors say that, most likely, the patients contracted the virus from a visitor. The medical director of the health unit Gabriel Dimofte has announced the ban on the visitors’ access, and patients are checked with rapid tests in order to limit the spread of the virus. Several hospitals in the country have also limited the visiting program, due to a rise in the number of flu and cold cases.
