Lifting the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism (CVM) and Romania’s entry as soon as possible to Schengen area, were supported in Brussels by the president of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker and Romanian Prime Minister Viorica Dancila. Romania’s place is clearly in the Schengen area – said President Juncker, who also said that he is convinced that the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism for Bulgaria and Romania should be lifted before the end of the mandate of the current Commission. In turn, Prime Minister Dancila pointed out that the Romanians hope that the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism will be lifted by 2019, because it is not normal for Romania to take over the presidency of the Council of the European Union with a sanction.
