Orange Code alert for powerful wind and blizzards in Bucharest and 12 Southern Romania counties

Bucharest and 12 counties in Southern Romania are under an orange code alert for strong winds, blizzards and low visibility, and meteorologists haven’t rule out the possible extension of the alert. Authorities have asked the citizens not to start long journeys unless they are absolutely necessary. The Interior Minister Carmen Dan has said that no extraordinary situations were signaled due to bad weather so far and the ministry’s employees have intervened to save 70 people. In Olt county, 100 homes are without electricity and in Teleorman schools will be closed on Tuesday. In Bucharest, Ilfov, Dolj, Giurgiu and Constanta, authorities have decided to close all schools and kindergartens on Monday and Tuesday.

Romania’s Foreign Minister will take part in the monthly summit of the Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels

The Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs is taking part on Monday in the meeting of the EU’s Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels. The peace process in the Middle East, as well as the situations in Republic of Moldova and Venezuela is the main issues on the agenda. Minister are taking part in a working lunch along with diplomatic heads from Palestine, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, as well as the Secretary General of the Arab League. Romania and France are organizing the 12th meeting of the Group for European Action of the Republic of Moldova, where the Moldovan Foreign Minister Tudor Ulianovschi is expected to take part.

The Humans will represent Romania at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest

The Romanian music band The Humans will represent the country at the 2018’s edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, which will be held in Lisbon. The band has won the national final of the contest with the song „Goodbye” and will represent Romania at the European competition, in May. In total 15 songs races in the final, to get the ticket for Lisbon. The band is made up of six members and was recently formed. „We believe in Humanity” – this is the motto that the band bring forward with their artistic act. For the first time in the history of the national selection, the finalists for the competition were elected after five semifinals, which were held in five different cities. This year’s winners were chosen by the public, in a telephonic vote.
