Romania’s top court has postponed a verdict in a corruption case against the leader of the ruling party Liviu Dragnea

The Supreme Court in Romania has postponed for June 21st the verdict in a case related to bogus employment in the county of Teleorman, where the Social Democrat leader Liviu Dragnea is accused of incitement to abuse of office. In the latest term of the lawsuit, the anti-corruption prosecutor has asked for a seven and a half years sentence for incitement to abuse of office and two years and a half for intellectual forgery, accusations that were brought against Liviu Dragnea. The PSD leader has also received a two and a half years suspended sentence in the „Referendum” file, and the prosecutor argues that this sentence should be converted in a full prison term. Liviu Dragnea is accused that he has intervened to keep on state agency payroll two employees at the General Directorate for Welfare and Child Protection in Teleorman, although he was aware that they were also working at the PSD Teleorman Organization.

President Klaus Iohannis has announced a special meeting of CSAT to discuss on the future NATO summit in Brussels

The Romanian President Klaus Iohannis has decided to call a special meeting of the Country’s Supreme Defense Council (CSAT), for discussions on the forthcoming NATO summit in Brussels. The president has made this announcement from Warsaw, where he is taking part in a summit of Bucharest 9 format. Klaus Iohannis has said that the Bucharest 9 format has proved to be a very useful idea, that shows the solidarity and indivisibility of allied security, and also that the nine participating countries could have a common contribution to the Euro-Atlantic security. The Romanian President has added that Friday’s discussions approached the agenda of the forthcoming NATO summit in Brussels, due in July, and the security dialogue has been extended to the dimension of cooperation between the European Union and NATO. Unity and solidarity within the alliance are important, as well as a robust trans-Atlantic connection, that Romania firmly supports, Mr. Iohannis said.

The Romanian county of Prahova will produce electric buses

Electric buses will be produces in the Romanian county of Prahova, starting from 2019. A company with Chinese funding will invest 100 million euros and will create 250 jobs. The President of Prahova Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Aurelian Gogulescu, that took part in the signing of the protocol, has said that this will be one of the most important Chinese investments in Romania.
Aurelian Gogulescu: The Production of non-polluting vehicles is a new sector for Prahova and Romania. It is an investment worth 100 million euros that will be made in two stages. It is expected that 250 jobs will be created and that the activity will start as soon as possible, perhaps even at the beginning of 2019.
