A Romanian service member of NATO’s Resolute Support Mission has been killed in Afghanistan

A Romanian service member has been killed in another suicide bombing in the Afghan capital, Kabul, on Thursday. The Romanian soldier was on a patrolling mission close to the Green Zone in Kabul, when he was hit by a car-bomb explosion, at a check point. The attack took place close to the NATO headquarters and the United States Embassy in Kabul. President Klaus Iohannis and Prime Minister Viorica Dancila have offered their sympathies to the relatives of the soldier and said that Romania would continue to support actions aimed at bringing peace and stability in Afghanistan and other conflict areas

The International Festival George Enescu enters its sixth day

Nine concerts and recitals which will be performed in Bucharest, Barlad, Sibiu and Bacau will make up the sixth day of the International Festival George Enescu, on its 24th edition. Among those expected to take the floor will be the Pelleas Chamber Orchestra, the Baroque Instrumental Orchestra Europa Galante and also The Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, which will be presided by Vladimir Jurovski, and accompanied by the George Enescu Philharmonic Choir and Romanian Radio Children’s Choir. Radio Romania is a co-producer of the International Festival George Enescu.

The Gaudeamus book fair has opened in the Romanian city of Brasov

The Romanian city of Brasov is hosting, as of Monday, the Gaudeamus Book Fair, organized by Radio Romania. The fair has attracted hundreds of visitors from its first day and it is showing to the world titles from the most prestigious publishers, on subjects which vary from health to personal development, fiction and children books. :I would like to thank everyone who will visit and perhaps will also buy a book from here. They should always know that the Gaudeamus Book Fair is tantamount to Radio Romania, the most powerful radio group in the country and one of the greatest in Europe”, Georgica Severin, the President of the Romanian Broadcasting Company has said. The event is unfolding in Piata Sfatului in Brasov until September the 8th.
