The devaluation of the Romanian leu and the growth of the euro are a concern

The devaluation of the Romanian leu and the rise of the euro is a concern, said Prime Minister Ludovic Orban this morning. He explained that an attempt is being made to align government policies with those of the National Bank, in order to reduce the negative economic effects. Ludovic Orban also said that in the economy the effects of some decisions are felt in time, and in practice the leu-euro ratio depends very much on the evolution of the trade balance.
Ludovic Orban: Starting with 2017, continuing with 2018 and with 2019, the trade deficit has been steadily increasing and is likely to reach the figure of 18 billion euros in trade deficit in 2019. Obviously, this affects and puts pressure on the national currency because, due to the increase of imports, obviously there is a great need for currency, the euro, especially having almost 80% of the volume of trade with countries in the European Union. Do you realize that this has permanently affected the leu-euro ratio.
Producer: Ludovic Orban made this statement at a press conference after checking the state of the works at the subway line in the Drumul Taberei district. The prime minister said that the inauguration would take place next summer, given that two of the three Metro contracts are long overdue.

In Italy, the polling stations were opened

In Italy, where the largest community of Romanians in the diaspora is located, and where over 129,500 Romanians voted in the first round, the 142 sections organized in this country open at this time. RRA correspondent Elena Postelnicu was at the consular section in Rome where two polling stations are located. Hello, Elena, is it crowded?
Reporter: Hello! At this moment it is not a queue, it is not a crowd. Already 25 Romanian citizens, who came before the ballot box opened, voted on the two meetings organized here. Nobody’s waiting. The electoral commissions are made up of 13 members, there are 13 stamps and 13 cabinets, so it will be impossible to form queues from the very first hours, especially since today is a working day. I want to say that I noticed from the first poll that at the five polling stations in Rome, there are very many young Romanian students who have also been involved in the call of our country’s ambassador to Italy, George Bologan.
George Bologan: We tried to maximize the number of members on the committee. In this chapter I emphasize again, there is the obligation of all parties to ensure that they are represented in each polling station, precisely to facilitate the flow of elections and the proper functioning of the voting exercise.
Reporter: At all the 142 sections in Italy today, they vote until local time 21:00, but also tomorrow and Sunday from 7:00 to 21:00 with the possibility of extension until 23:59 for voters who are in the polling station headquarters at 9:00 pm as well as for those who are outside the polling station headquarters.
