President Klaus Iohannis supports the Orban government in taking responsibility for the 2020 budget project

President Klaus Iohannis said today at the Cotroceni Palace that he supports the Orban government in assuming responsibility for the 2020 budget project. The president also announced, among others, and the person he wants to promote for Romania’s position as ambassador to Israel.
Reporter: Oana Bâlă – President Klaus Iohannis considers that the proposed budget for 2020 is good and provides the necessary amounts in all the chapters. At the same time, it can maintain the pace of economic growth and allow the continuation of positive policies in the field of pensions and wages. The head of state wanted to clarify that the budget could not unfortunately fall into the deficit target of 3% due to the economic policies promoted by the previous government. On the other hand, the President of Romania announced that he intends to promote Radu Ioanid, director of the Archive Department of the Holocaust Museum in Washington, as an ambassador to Israel. He will enter the diplomatic proceedings maybe this week, the head of state said.

The Romanian Revolution after 30 years

In Timisoara it is today a day of mourning in memory of the first revolutionaries killed three decades ago. Dozens of people died in the afternoon of December 17, 1989, after Communist dictator Nicolae Ceausescu ordered the use of lethal ammunition. The revolt against the regime was expanding. The heroes of that time are commemorated today in the martyr city.
Reporter – Alina Bujancă: At this moment the commemoration of the heroes of martyrs began in the metropolitan cathedral of Timisoara, officiated by His Highness the Metropolitan Banat. Last night, during the commemorative events dedicated to the revolution, he asked President Klaus Iohannis to decree a national day dedicated to the revolution, which would mark the release of Romanian consciousness. Today’s events are attended by local officials, dozens of revolutionaries from Timisoara but also from other cities in the country, who came as every year to the martyr city to lay wreaths in memory of heroes. There are also descendants of those shot in the revolution, who will participate in the afternoons in services and parastas at the Church of the Martyrs and in the Euros Cemetery. Where local officials and Revolutionary Associations will lay wreaths. In the evening, from 6 pm, on the steps of the cathedral there will be a moment of gathering with personalized candles with the faces of the heroes. I remind you that the day of December 17 was established as a local day of mourning by a decision of the Local Council, the flags were lowered in the burning in memory of the over 100 victims of the December 89 revolution in Timisoara.

The draft budget for 2020 provides more money for nine ministries

The draft budget for 2020, published this morning by the Ministry of Finance, foresees more money this year for nine ministries, such as: the Interior, National Defense, Education and Culture. In addition, the Ministry of Labor, as well as that of the European Funds, will receive. Instead, less money this year will go to Foreign, Agriculture, Development and Health. The budget for next year is built on economic growth of 4.1%, a budget deficit of about 3.6 percent and an average inflation rate of 3.1%. Revenue is estimated next year at over 360 billion lei, and expenses exceed 400 billion. Investments are estimated at 4.5% of GDP, increasing by 6.3 billion lei compared to this year.
