The Romanian acting Prime Minister, Ludovic Orban, attends the International Security Conference in Munich

Heads of state and government, representatives of international and regional security and defense organizations, including the European Union and NATO will attend the International Security Conference beeing held in Munich. The Romanian delegation is headed by Prime Minister Ludovic Orban. Today, at the event, major topics will be addressed on the international agenda related to the field of security. In the margin of the works, Ludovic Orban has scheduled a series of meetings with counterparts from several states, as well as with the top representatives of the business community./opopescu

Nearly 500,000 Romanians applied for resident status in the UK

Nearly 500,000 Romanians have applied, by the end of last month, for resident status in the United Kingdom, in the framework of the UK settlement scheme made available by British authorities to European citizens who wish to continue living in the kingdom after December 31-st. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bucharest, compared to the data communicated by the British Home Office valid for the end of last year, there is an increase by 63,000 of the number of applications submitted by Romanian citizens. The deadline for applications is June 30-th 2021 for European citizens arriving in the United Kingdom until 31-st December this year./opopescu

The Romanian economy has grown

The Romanian economy grew by 4.1 percent last year, according to data announced today by the National Institute of Statistics. The figures exceed the estimate of 3.8 percent of the European Commission, but also the calculations of the National Forecast Commission, which predicted an increase of 4 percent. However, the advance of the economy is lower than in the last two years, when growth was 4.4 percent in 2018 and 7.1 percent in 2017, respectively. In the last quarter of 2019, the GDP advance accelerated by 1.5 percent compared to the previous quarter, when, in the third quarter compared to the second quarter, GDP growth was 0.6 percent, NIS data show./opopescu
