Klaus Iohannis – Nicolae Timofti meeting

Romanian President, Klaus Iohannis,  had a meeting with his Moldovan counterpart, Nicolae Timofti, in Suceava. President Iohannis  congratulated the Moldovan citizens for the democratic conduct of the local elections and assured the Republic of Moldova regarding our country’s support on Kisinau’s European course. In turn, the Moldovan President, Nicolae Timofti, stressed that he has a full understanding of the regional situation and of the influence it has on the European course of the Republic of Moldova with his Romanian counterpart. European financial aid for Romania, Bulgaria and Italy

Romania, Bulgaria and Italy will receive a total of 66.5 million euros in European Union aid to repair damages caused by severe flooding in the summer of 2014. According to a press release of the Parliament in Strasbourg, the proposal made in this regard by the European Commission was approved today. The sum from the  European Union Solidarity Fund (EUSF) will help the national authorities to repair the damages done by waters to public and private infrastructure, households, businesses, natural environment or cultural heritage. Most European financial aid will go to Italy, 56 million euros, Romania will receive 8.5 million and Bulgaria will receive another 2 million. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)

Romanian firefighters honored in America

Romanian firefighters obtained 41 medals, including 13 gold, at the largest biannual sporting competition for firefighters and police officers around the world. The competition brought together in Fairfax, United States, more than 10,000 athletes from 63 countries, including 15 Romanian firefighters, according to a communique of the Romanian General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations  released yesterday.
