European money for Large Infrastructure

Nine and a half billion euros from EU funds will be available to Romania for the construction and modernization of highways, airports, water or energy networks. The money will be available, starting today till 2020, with the signing in Bucharest of the Large Infrastructure Operational Programme. It is the most important program in Romania and the second in the European Union after that one for Poland. From the European Commission the Commissioner for Regional Policy, Corina Cretu, will be present in Bucharest. The major projects considered by the European Commission as priorities are highways: Sibiu – Pitesti, Bacau – Pascani or Targu Neamt – Ungheni, highway that will link Romania to Republic of Moldova. The Italian Foreign Minister, Paolo Gentiloni, said that businessmen from his country have confidence in the stability of the Romanian economy, so that every month more than 100 new companies come to do business in Romania. He discussed in Bucharest with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bogdan Aurescu, on bilateral relations on many levels. The Italian Foreign Minister said that Romania is characterized by stability and growth, which generates a sense of confidence among the Italian businessmen. „We have excellent political relations”, said Paolo Gentiloni, „but there is also an intensification of economic and trade relations. Italy did not discover Romania a few months or a few years ago, but it bet on the economic future of this country for a long time. (RADIO ROMANIA reports).

The government announces pay increases in the public system by the end of this year. The interim prime minister, Gabriel Oprea, said on Wednesday that the government wants every state employee to receive a fair wage according to his work and responsibilities. Meanwhile, starting August 1st the monthly allowances of several high-ranking officials will rise. Subject to an ordinance adopted by the executive there are 48 positions, from the President of Romania, to ministers and heads of departments. The interim Prime Minister, Gabriel Oprea, said that he assumes the fairness and the opportunity of the measure and President Klaus Iohannis praised the government initiative. The President, High Court of Cassation and Justice President, Prime Minister and the two Speakers of Parliament will have the highest salaries, (RADIO ROMANIA reports).
