Romania is a source, a transit country and a destination for human trafficking, indicates a US State Department report

Between 20 and 36 million people worldwide were victims of modern slavery in the past year – indicates a US State Department report on human trafficking. The document shows that human trafficking brings anually illicit revenues of 150 billion
dollars, of which 99 only in sex industry. Among the countries accused that do not take sufficient measures against this form of „modern slavery” there are: Thailand, Russia Lybia or Bulgaria. Instead, countries such as Cuba, Kenya and Saudi Arabia are praised. Regarding Romania, the report shows that it is a source, a transit country and a destination for human trafficking. Men, women and children are forced to beg and steal, both in Romania and in other countries, notes the report, which adds that, while making significant efforts to eliminate this phenomenon, Bucharest does not comply with certain minimum standards in the field and court rulings in such cases that reach courts are too mild to deter traffickers. Minister Delegate for Relations with Romanians Abroad Angel Tilvar concluded today a four-day visit to Italy. Apart from discussions with local authorities, he was in the middle of Romanian community in Lazio region, where official live, with right of residence, 200.000 Romanians. During a meeting with Romanian businessmen in Rome the issue of  tax incentives to investors who want to return home was specifically discussed. In Italy lives the largest Romanian community abroad, almost 1,1 million conationals with right of residence. The actual number is estimated to exceed 1.5 million people. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)

Yellow code alert for heat and thermal discomfort for Bucharest and 19 counties in southern and south-eastern Romania

Bucharest and 19 counties in southern and south-eastern Romania are under yellow code alert for heat and thermal discomfort. The maximum air temperature will exceed 37 degrees today, but doctors warn that the temperature felt by the human body will be higher and recommend the consumption of water, fruits and vegetables and avoiding sun exposure at noon. In Bucharest, dozens of people fainted yesterday on the street due to heat, said Bucuresti-Ilfov Ambulance Service manager, doctor Alis Grasu.  (RADIO ROMANIA reports)
