Minister of State for Europe with Germany’s Foreign Ministry Michael Roth was in Bucharest yesterday, where he discussed with Romanian officials about developments in migration issues, renegotiation of relations between United Kingdom and the European Union (UE) and about the relations with the states in the eastern neighborhood and Western Balkans. Michael Roth said that the European Union is not just a common market, but also a union of values. He praised Romania’s progress in the rule of law and the economic potential and the stability represented by our country. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)

Romania’s economic growth could reach a peak this year

According to the European Commission, Romania’s economic growth could reach a peak this year, with a rate more than two times higher than that of the entire European Union. The European Commission improved its estimates regarding Romania’s economic growth, saying that it could reach a high of 4.2% this year. The increase in the salaries and the fiscal easing will contribute to the economic growth. Next year, however, the economy’s growth rate will slightly go down to 3.7%., according to the Commission. The internal demand will remain the main engine growth whereas the exports’ net contribution will stay negative. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)

National Congress of Intransmissible Chronic diseases takes place in Bucharest

Renowned experts in the field of intransmissible chronic diseases meet for two days in Bucharest at the Fifth National Congress. Diabetes, obesity, cancer, cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases are illnesses which have reached alarming levels, being the leading causes of mortality worldwide and in Romania. About 36 million people die annually worldwide because of intransmissible chronic diseases, according World Health Organization statistics. The Congress in Bucharest seeks to open and maintain the professional dialogue in order to to manage these public health problems, which have reached alarming levels both in the world, and in Romania.
