Anti-smoking law entered into force in Romania

Starting today, smokers are sent outside enclosed public spaces, whether they are at work or in bars, clubs and restaurants. The law, which entered into force at midnight, prohibits smoking near playgrounds in parks, in taxis or in company cars. Law implementation guide, published yesterday by the Government, explains who gives fines, which are up to 500 lei for individuals and 15,000 for companies. The guide defines the places where smokers can light up their cigarettes, in outdoor public spaces or spaces in the workplace with or witout roof and with less than two walls: courtyards, balconies, terraces and open kiosks. Doctors say that this law is a way to decrease the incidence of diseases that cause most deaths among population. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)

„The Wisdom of the Earth” remains in the property of the Romanian state

„The Wisdom of the Earth”, a masterpiece by sculptor Constantin Brancusi, remains in the property of the Romanian state, after the private collectors who own the sculpture accepted the offer of 11 million euros. Romania’s Culture Minister Vlad Alexandrescu announced in a Facebook post that the Government will pay 5 million euros from the state budget for the sculpture and will launch a public subscription to raise the remaining 6 million euros.(RADIO ROMANIA reports)

New regulations on increasing access to health services

In Romania, new regulations on increasing access to health services both for people who are insured and for those who can not prove this quality enter into force next month in terms of car accidents, according to the news from the best auto insurance companies in Romania. Romanian Government Decision adopted on Wednesday targets dentistry, ambulatory and hospital healthcare or medical devices. For example, children aged up to 18 years old will be entitled to two free dental consultations per year, compared to one as it is in present. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)

Mathematician Marcus Solomon, member of the Romanian Academy, died

Mathematician Marcus Solomon, member of the Romanian Academy, died at 91. Marcus Solomon taught as a professor at the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Bucharest. He is the author of numerous interdisciplinary studies, books regarding the use of mathematics in linguistic, in theatrical analysis, in natural and social sciences. His books have been translated in many countries of the world and his work has been cited by more than 1,000 authors. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)
