Tarom resumes flights to and from Brussels after Zaventem Airport was partial opened

Tarom will resume today flights to and from Brussels after Zaventem Airport was partial opened. A spokeswoman for the company, Dinu Georgeta, said that there are round-trip flights scheduled this afternoon on this route in which passengers who had tickets for the morning flight can board. Tarom representative also said that passengers must thave the travel documents printed to be allowed into the check-in area. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)

150 years since the establishment of the Romanian Academy

After a century and a half of uninterrupted activity Romanian Academy fulfilled its role of defending national identity – said the President of this institution, Ionel Valentin Vlad at the the opening of the solemn session dedicated to the 150th anniversary. The event was attended by personalities of Romanian culture and science, politicians and foreign guests. Attending the event, Romanian President Klaus Iohannis supported in his speech the important role that Romanian Academy has in the dialogue between different cultures. „In our society”, said Klaus Iohannis, „this high institution represents a landmark of competence for the new generations of elite, as well as for Romanian intellectual personalities who live and work abroad for a long time”. Several companies from Romania signed a protocol of cooperation with Turkish defence companies

Several companies which candidate for the modernization of frigates Type 22 in Romania signed today a protocol of cooperation with Turkish defence companies. Managing Director of the Center for Radio Communication Services Doru Bancu explained why it was necessary the partnership between Romanian and Turkish firms: „We hope to have the appropriate partnership and to be successful in this action. Frigate modernization is a complex operation which involves both military equipment and communications upgrading and it is a broader spectrum. Romania still does not have experience in this field, it can not participates independently and it makes sense to look for appropriate partners”. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)

This year, World Health Day, marked on April 7th, will be dedicated to the fight against diabetes

Diabetes prevention and appropriate care for people suffering from this disease are two of the topics that will be addressed today by specialists in Bucharest. Diabetes White Paper will be presented – a project that aims to find solutions to the problems of Romanians who suffer from this disease. Authorities’ role to ensure a functional infrastructure for proper patient care will also be discussed. More than 11 percent of Romanians aged between 20 and 79 years suffer from this disease. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that in 2030 diabetes will be the seventh leading cause of death worldwide. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)
