The anti-missile defense system at Deveselu and the initiative of a Black Sea naval Group are purely defensive, it fully respects the international law and they are not directed against Russia, says Romania’s Foreign Ministry in a statement. The clarifications come after the spokesman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, referred to initiatives which would undermine security and regional stability, including the one regarding the establishing of a permanent NATO naval Group in the Black Sea which attributed to Romania. According to Radio Romania correspondent in Moscow, Maria Zakharova said that Romania is positioned as an outpost of Russia’s deterrent policy on NATO’s eastern flank requesting an increased military presence of the United States and NATO in the Black Sea area.
