Romania has only half of the doctors it needs

Romania has only half of the doctors it needs. Since 2007 – the year when Romania joined the European Union – until now, 43,000 specialists asked the authorities the documents needed to go and work in hospitals abroad and the exodus seems to never stop. If within one year 3,000 doctors enter into the system, 3,500 submitt their documents to go abroad. The figures were presented by Minister Vlad Voiculescu, who announced a strategy to motivate doctors to remain in the country. The plan includes measures for the next four years. He also said that steps to a better remuneration for the employees in the health system have been made, hospital managers are evaluated more accurately and competitions are more transparent by publishing all items on the online platform posturi.gov.ro.
