NATO Secretary General has congratulated Romania for increasing the defense spending to 2% of the GDP

The NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg, has warned on Monday that it is of utmost necessity for the trans-Atlantic relations that the members of the alliance increase their defense spending, the way that the United States President, Donald Trump, has also called for. In NATO’s annual report, released on Monday, Jens Stoltenberg has underlined that only five member states have allocated at least 2% of their GDP for defense. Last month, Jens Stoltenberg has congratulated Romania for the great effort to increase its defense budget to 2% of the GDP. Mr. Secretary General also appreciated the fact that Romania will host a multinational brigade that enhances NATO’s presence in the South-Eastern flank.

Bird flu recorded in the Western Romanian county of Arad

The sanitary veterinarian authorities in the county of Arad have enforced several preventive measures, after the first bird flu case was signaled here. As Radio Romania correspondents say, citizens that find dead birds have the duty to immediately contact the veterinary or the Arad Sanitary Veterinary Direction, by calling the number: 0257.280.760, so as samples could be collected for lab tests.

Romanian movies to be played at the Europe-Argentine Film Festival „Pantalla Pinamar”, from 11th to 18th of March

The Romanian movies „Bacalaureat”, directed by Cristian Mungiu and „De ce eu?”, directed by Tudor Giurgiusi and „Dublu”, directed by Catrinel Danaiata will be projected at the  Europe-Argentine Film Festival „Pantalla Pinamar”, in Buenos Aires, Argentine, from March 11 to March 18th. With the support of the Romanian Cultural Institite, actress Lia Bugnar and the film critic Mihai Fulger will take part in the festival and will hold a master class at the Film University in Buenos Aires. On Marc the 1st, the festival was launched and presented, citing Romania as one of the countries with a special invitation. Local and national authorities took part in the presentation, as well as Argentinian actors and movie-makers, members of the diplomatic corps and representatives from the media and the cultural environment. The festival is organized by Argentina’s National Institute of Cinema and Visual Arts.
