Military ceremonies on the occasion of  NATO Day in Romania took place in Bucharest, in big cities and in local garrisons. In a message, President Klaus Iohannis said that our country will continue to strengthen its position within the Alliance, emphasizing that Romania allocated 2% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for defense, the largest budget increase since Romania joined the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania also stressed that Romania remains a significant contributor in the Alliance through direct participation in managing security challenges in the region and it strengthens its status as a reliable partner. „Romanian Gendarmerie Day” marked in Romania

Today April 3rd is „Romanian Gendarmerie Day” and demonstration exercises, symposia, thematic exhibitions are just some of the events organized to mark 167 years since the creation of the service. Events have already begun over the weekend. In Herastrau Park in Bucharest there were martial art demonstrations, a presentation of special intervention vehicles and other attractions for visitors. Among those present to mark this event was the Minister of Interior Carmen Dan, who spoke also about the concern for the development and equipping of all Minister of Internal Affairs’ structures and about removing pay inequalities in the system. „I am convinced”, said Carmen Dan, „that we will have a unique wage law to reward all employees who work in the national order and safety national system”. The Foreign Affairs Minister Teodor Melescanu will attend on Monday the Foreign Affairs Council’s reunion in Luxembourg

The Foreign Affairs Minister, Teodor Melescanu will be present on Monday at the reunion of the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) in Luxembourg, which is to address the Syrian file, but also the situation in Yemen and Libya.  According to a release by the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE), European foreign ministers will discuss regional files of common interest in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul-Gheit . On the FAC sidelines the reunion of the Group for European Action of the Republic of Moldova, organised at the joint initiative of Romania and France, will also take place. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)
