Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu has met a delegation of the ExxonMobil – OMV Petrom Consortium

The Romanian Prime Minister, Sorin Grindeanu, has met a delegation of the ExxonMobil – OMV Petrom Consortium on Tuesday. The discussions focused on the investment of companies in Romania and the capitalization of energy resources. According to a statement from Victoria Palace, Sorin Grindeanu has emphasized the openness and determination of hid government to support investment projects to develop new sources of hydrocarbon offshore. That was the second official meeting between the two sides, after the first, in February. Since 2008, the Romanian company OMV Petrom and the American ExxonMobil has been exploring an area deep in Romanian waters of the Black Sea, and in 2012 a natural gas field has been found. So far, the two companies have invested 1.5 billion dollars in prospecting and exploring in the Black Sea.

The International Conference „Interaction between political majority and opposition in a democracy” is taking place at Cotroceni Palace

The Presidential Administration, along with the Venice Committee and with support from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe are organizing the International Conference „Interaction between political majority and opposition in a democracy” at Cotroceni Palace, on Thursday and Friday. This is a conference that aims to underline the importance of cooperation between the political majority and the opposition, in a balanced and pluralist society, with respect for the rule of law and democratic norms. The conference is drafted as a theoretical support for a report, because at the end of this conference, the Venice Committee will compile a report as requested by the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, a report that should draw some main directions on the way the political majority should behave and interact with the opposition”, the spokeswoman of Romanian President, Madalina Dobrovolschi, has said.

Romania and other 15 European Union states are launching the European Antifraud Prosecutor

16 European Union countries, including Romania, have associated in order to create the European Antifraud Prosecutor, the European Council has announced on Monday. It will be an independent court, charged with countering the crimes that might harm EU’s financial interests, especially frauds with European funds. It will also have attributions in dealing with trans-border tax evasion. According to the European Commission, national budgets of member states are defrauded with at least 50 billion euros a year, only from the VAT.
