President Klaus Iohannis has met the Prime Minister of Georgia

The Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili has told President Klaus Iohannis that Romania is seen by his country as the closest European Union state, from a political point of view and from its citizens’ opinion, a statement by the Presidential Administration says. The Georgian Prime Minister, who is in an official visit to Romania, has also met his Romanian counterpart, Sorin Grindeanu and on this occasion they signed a common statement marking the anniversary of 25 years since diplomatic bilateral relations have been established.

The Parliament has removed the Administration Council of Radio Romania

A common session of the Romanian Parliament has rejected the activity reports of Radio Romania for the years 2015 and 2016. This decision entails that the Administration Council of the institution is revoked. Following proposals submitted by the culture committees, the Parliament has named former Social Democrat Senator Georgina Severin as the interim General Director of Radio Romania. During the debates, the opposition argued that the decision is politically motivated, while the Social Democrat Lucian Romascanu, who heads the Senate culture committee, has nothing to do with editorial performances of the institution, but it was the only way to remove the Administration Council.

Solemn session in Romanian Parliament to celebrate the role of the Iasi city in the 1918 Great Union

The Romanian Parliament has held a solemn session on Wednesday to celebrate the role played by the city of Iasi in the 1918 Great Union. The participants have underlined the historic and political role of the legislative forum that existed in Romania 100 years ago, when decisions were made that laid the bases for the consolidation and development of the National Unitary Romanian State. The Senate Speaker, Calin Popescu Tariceanu, has opened the series of speeches and spoke about the role of Parliament as the sponsor of a nation. 100 years ago, a message of unity and resistance was sent and it could be an inspiration for the current society, Mr. Tariceanu has said. The Crown Keeper, Princess Margaret, has also spoken in front of the Parliament plenum, saying that besides honoring the past, today’s event has shown that in uncertain and dangerous times Romania is an intelligent and stable country, that cherishes the continuity and builds the future based on the past and that the country could become an example of balance and moderation on the continent.
