Romanian authorities have sent condolences following Manchester attack. President Klaus Iohannis expresses indignation and sadness for this attack. In a message posted on Twitter, Romanian President states that Romanians’ thoughts are with the victims, their relatives and urges solidarity with the United Kingdom. Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu also sent a message of compassion on Facebook and reminds that the Embassy of Romania in London is in constant contact with the British authorities. The President of the Chamber of Deputies, Liviu Dragnea, condemns last night’s attack, along with the message „Let Us Pray for Manchester”. In a press release, the Romanian Ministry for Foreign Affairs expressed its full solidarity with the British people. Embassy of Romania to the United Kingdom has no information about Romanian citizens who were at the scene of the incident, but it is in touch with local authorities and is ready to help in case of need. School ship „Mircea” will leave for a 122-day training march

The school ship „Mircea” will leave on Tuesday for a 122-day training march. Along the way, stops will be made in 11 ports in 9 countries on the Mediterranean Sea, the North Sea, the Baltic Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Alongside the base crew of the ship, there are 70 cadets and students from the „Mircea cel Batran” Naval Academy and the „Admiral Ion Murgescu” Naval Forces Military Masters School, as well as eight foreign cadets from Naval Acamemies in Bulgaria, China, Greece and Poland. During the training voyage, the crew will have official visits to the naval academies in the Netherlands, Germany, Portugal and Spain, which strengthens good relationships with sister institutions and during the stops school ship „Mircea” will participate in two prestigious nautical events. Romanian Foreign Ministry expresses solidarity with the British people after the explosion in Manchester, at the end of a concert performed by American singer Ariana Grande in which 19 people were killed and over 50 injured. The Embassy of Romania to the United Kingdom does not have information about Romanian citizens who were at the scene but it is in contact with local authorities, being ready to help in case of need. The situation is considered a terrorist incident, the investigation is underway and British Prime Minister Theresa May has convened for this morning a meeting of the emergency committee. Meanwhile, police have increased their presence in public transport and in stations’ area. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)
