Romania’s industrial output has risen in the last months of 2017

In November 2017, the prices for Romania’s industrial output in total, both on the external and internal markets, have risen by 0.5% compared to the previous month and by 4.4%, in comparison to the same period of 2016, according to data published on Thursday by the Romanian Statistics Institute. Significant price increases, compared to November 2016 were recorded in the energy industry and the intermediate goods, where there was an over 5% increase, while in the capital goods industry the average rise was under 3%.

Anti-corruption prosecutors have sued 18 individuals and two companies in a scheme involving fraud with European funds

Romanian anti-corruption prosecutors have sued 18 individuals and two companies, in a case related to the fraudulent attainment of European funds. Those targeted are accused of having received European funds worth about one and a half billion euros, in order to build some pig farms in the county of Iashi, based on documents or declarations that were inconsistent with real facts. Some of the persons sued are also accused of tax evasion, with an estimated prejudice of over 800,000 lei.

A Blue Air passenger plane flying from Bacau to Catania has made an emergency landing in Palermo

An airplane belonging to the Romanian transport company Blue Air, on a route from the city of Bacau to Sicilia’s Catania has made an emergency landing in the town of Palermo, due to bad weather conditions. The plane was stationed at the Palermo airport, which is located 2.000 km from Catania, until the storm stopped and continued its flight with a four hour delay on the fly back from Catania to Bacau. Due to Thursday’s strong wind that affected the Catania province in Sicily, three flights operated by the Ryanair company were redirected to other airports.
