The US President has named Adrian Zuckerman as American Envoy to Bucharest

The American President, Donald Trump, has named Adrian Zuckerman as ambassador to Romania, according to a statement posted on the White House website. Mr. Zuckerman is a New York lawyer, who has emmigrated to the United States with his family, when he was ten years old. He speaks Romanian fluently. The future ambassador has to be validated by the US Senate. Hans Klemm, the current ambassador to Bucharest, named by the Obama administration, is ending his mandate this December.

Romania is joining international efforts to assist Greece in tackling deadly wildfires

Romania is one of the countries that have joined international efforts to help Greece, as the country has been tackling deadly wildfires in the last few days. The Romanian Ministry of Defense has prepared the C-27 J Spartan aircraft, designed to tackle fires, as well as a C-130 Hercules plane to offer logistical support, with a total of 20 soldiers, crew members and auxiliary personnel. The state secretary Raed Arafat has announced that authorities in Athens have accepted Romania’s support through the European Civil Protection Mechanism. Both President Klaus Iohannis and Prime Minister Viorica Dancila have sent messages of solidarity and sympathy with those affected by the fires.

Prime Minister Viorica Dancila and her Irish counterpart Leo Varadkar have talked about the legislation on public-private partnership

The Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar, who visited Bucharest on Tuesday, has thanked Romania for its position in the Brexit negotiations, as Bucharest insisted that a hard border between Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic should be avoided. Mr. Varadkar and his Romanian counterpart Viorica Dancila have agreed to create a working group, so as Romania could learn from the Irish experience on public-private partnership. The Irish Prime Minister has offered guarantees that he will share his experience with Romania on this issue.
