Romania’s Foreign Minister Theodor Melescanu is taking part in the annual summit of the Slovak Diplomacy. his visit coincides with the commemoration of 50 years since the repression on The Prague Spring. In a statement to Radio Romania, the minister spoke about the meaning of that event.
Theodor Melescanu: It is a fortunate coincidence which offered us the possibility to see how appreciated Romania and the Romanians are. We related to the efforts that the Romanian Army has made to liberate Slovakia, at the cost of significant human loss of life.

Two American F-22 Raptor jets have landed at Campia Turzii in Romania

Luxury guests were welcomed at the Romanian air base in Campia Turzii: two F-22 jets belonging to the American Air Force are taking par in a drill along Romanian pilots. The F-22 supersonic is thought to be one of the world’s top range fighter jets. The Raptor F-22 jets that landed at Campia Turzii are part of the 95th Fighter Squadron at Tyndall Air Force Base, in Florida. „Romania is the only country from this area of NATO that has hosted F-22 jets. This demonstrates the trust and reliability that the US have in our ally Romania”, Ambassador Hans Klemm has said.

The Romanian Informatics team has won four medals at the 25th edition of The Central Europe Olympiad in Informatics

The Romanian Informatics team gained four medals – two of gold and two of silver – at the 25th edition of Central Europe Olympiad in Informatics, which was held in Poland. According to a statement by the Education Ministry, the unofficial medal hierarchy of the contest with students for 13 states shows Romania on the first place, the same as the host country. The gold medals belong to Costin-Andrei Oncescu, from the National College „Dinicu Golescu”, in Campulung, Arges County and Alex Tatomir, a pupil at the National College „Nicolae Balcescu”, in Braila. Oncescu also won gold at last year’s competition and took the top place in the general individual hierarchy this year.
