Raed Arafat warns people to insure their goods, given the intense effects of climate change

Head of the Department for Emergency Situations, Raed Arafat, urged people to insure their goods, especially given the fact that climate change causes intense effects. Attending the International Catastrophic Risks Forum, he mentioned that insurers must work correctly, in order to increase confidence in this system. Raed Arafat also recommended using the applications especially created to warn in case of emergency, such as DSU and RoAlert.

Manifestations dedicated to the National Holocaust Remembrance Day

President Klaus Iohannis will award decorations to some of the survivals of this tragic moment in our country’s history, on National Holocaust Remembrance Day. This morning, in the capital, a solemn event will take place at the Holocaust Memorial and, this afternoon, a bust of Elie Wiesel will be unveiled in the square that bares his name. Commemorative events will also take place at the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Şimleu Silvaniei and, at the synagogue in Reşiţa today is the Open Gates Day.

Google opens a new center that teaches students free programming lessons, at the Bucharest University

On Tuesday, Google will open a new center that teaches students free programming lessons, at Bucharest University. The special guest of the event is Daniel Hulme, programs director at University College London, who will speak about the future of education in the context of artificial intelligence. The new educational center will offer free access to Google products and experts to help students who wish to open their own businesses in the information technology field. According to Google, digital knowledge they will acquire will help them sustain their career and build their self confidence.

Serge Klarsfeld receives Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor from French president

French president, Emmanuel Macron, awarded „Nazi hunter” Serge Klarsfeld the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor. Klarsfeld was born in Bucharest, in 1935. Along with his wife, who received the National Order of Merit, he fought, for over half a century, for the recognition of the Holocaust and the trials of Nazi criminals and their accomplices in the Second World War. The Klarsfelds identified and exposed a number of Nazi police chiefs in France, including the Gestapo commander in Paris and his notorious „executioner from Lyon”, whom they followed between 1971 and 1981.
