Statements by President Klaus Iohannis in the European Parliament on the future of the European Union

President Klaus Iohannis presented for the first time in a speech in the European Parliament Romania’s vision regarding the future of the European Union. He pleaded for unity, cohesion and solidarity in the efforts to consolidate the European project and rejected the ideea of a Europe with more speeds or a Union of concentric circles. Klaus Iohannis also said that joining the Eurozone as soon as possible, when all the conditions are met, is a national objective, just like joining the Schengen Area. Romania is a democratic state where law rules and it will remain engaged in the fight against corruption, added President Klaus Iohannis. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)

Romania is in the top of the European Union countries with major road risk

The gravity of traffic accidents places Romania in the top of the European Union countries with major road hazards, in the context in which the European community is working to reduce road fatality mortality by 50% by 2020. Starting from this issue, Police Inspectorate in Satu Mare county started a project for the prevention of road traffic offences, under the slogan „Make sure you are on the right track”. The project aims to change the behavior of road users and to reduce the risk of road accidents. The proposed activities will take place until the end of September 2019. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)

Romanian Foreign Minister met with Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration

Romania will remain a supporter of the European path of the Republic of Moldova, assures Foreign Minister Teodor Melescanu. He met yesterday in Bucharest with Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Iurie Leanca and added that it is important that the authorities in Chisinau continue the internal reforms and modernization of the state in accordance with the obligations assumed by the EU-Moldova Association Agreement. In turn, Iurie Leanca, thanked for Romania’s support in the process of European integration. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)
