Reporter: President Klaus Iohannis once again criticized the PSD governance and said that a major problem is the way in which emergency ordinances are issued in the field of justice and criminal policy, non-transparent, without prior consultation and clarity. President said it was mandatory to regulate the use of emergency ordinances and specified that it was necessary to introduce the possibility that they could be appealed to the Constitutional Court. Under these circumstances, he announced that he would reconsider the Parliament to broaden the scope of the referendum, to make it more efficient and powerful. At the same time, the president of Romania urged the government not to issue emergency ordinances on justice and criminal policy until the May 26 referendum.

Reporter: The first democratic presidents of South Eastern European countries after 1989 have the duty to share their experience with current generations, said former head of state, Emil Constantinescu, so that young people know the process of transition from communism to democracy or management conflicts during this transition. The countries that came out of the communist dictatorship have in common the fact that they had to cope with frozen conflicts of religious, ethnic, national, social or cultural nature, Emil Constantinescu said.
Emil Constantinescu: From the experience gained over the past 30 years, I can say that the project of intellectual elites in the Eastern European countries of integration into the European Union, adopted by our peoples who were able to assume the very high social cost, has led to the overcoming of the potential conflicts between states and those inside them.
Reporter: Senate President Călin Popescu-Tariceanu has said that 30 years after the fall of dictatorial regimes in Eastern Europe, the value and power of liberty are celebrated, the privilege of living in democratic societies that offer opportunities and hopes of most citizens. He also pointed out that the current challenge for all Eastern European leaders is to engage the societies they lead in maintaining peace, finding solutions to address prolonged conflicts and building a more prosperous future.

The National Bank of Romania launches a silver coin with the theme 100 years since the Gregorian calendar was adopted

RADOR (1 April) – The National Bank launches today, in the numismatic circuit, a silver coin, centered on the 100th anniversary of Romania’s adoption of the Gregorian calendar. The issue for this issue is 300 silver coins and the sale price, excluding TVA, of 350 lei. The silver coins are packed in transparent capsules and are accompanied by presentation brochures written in Romanian, English and French.
