The second meeting of the heads of medicines agencies begins in Bucharest

The second meeting of the heads of medicines agencies begins today in Bucharest. On the agenda, topics of strategic importance in the field of medicinal products for human and veterinary use are exchanged for three days and exchanges of information and good practices in the regulation of these products. Participants also want to identify solutions and resources for the development of IT systems for national and European databases of medicinal products. The event is attended by heads of regulatory and control authorities in the field of medicinal products for human and veterinary use from all European economic area countries, representatives of the European Medicines Agency, the European Medicines Quality Directorate, the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety . The first meeting of the heads of medicines agencies held during Romania’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union took place in Timişoara, in February.

European Union – United States meeting for Justice ad Home Affairs at ministerial level

Today, the European Union – United States meeting for Justice and Home Affairs at ministerial level is taking place in Bucharest. The event is organized by the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Attending the event will the European Commissioners for Justice, Vera Jourova, for Migration and Home Affairs, Dimitris Avramopoulos, and for Union Security, Julian King. For the first time, the US Attorney General William Barr will also be present. The US High Representative met yesterday with President Klaus Iohannis, Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă and Justice Minister Ana Birchall. Topics of common interest with an emphasis on the field of justice were discussed. Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă said during a meeting with the US Attorney General that she wants her cabinet members no longer refer to justice. Viorica Dăncilă also said she wanted an independent justice and stressed that no one would intervene in the act of justice.

Dacian Cioloş, elected as leader of the „Renew Europe” group in the European Parliament

RADOR (June 19th) – The Co-President of USR-Plus, Dacian Cioloş, was elected leader of the „Renew Europe” group in the European Parliament. Dacian Cioloş’s counter-candidates were Sophie in ‘t Veld, Dutch MEP, and Swedish MEP Fredrick Federley, backed by the Northern parties. Dacian Cioloş became the favorite for this position after Nathalie Loiseau, representative of the French President Emmanuel Macron’s En Marche Party withdrew from the competition.
