Romania wins one gold and two silver medals at Central-European Olympiad in Informatics

The Romanian team came home from Bratislava with a gold medal and two silver medals, which it has won at the Central-European Olympiad in Informatics. A statement from the Education Ministry says that the gold medal was earned by Theodor Pierre Moroianu from the International Informatics High school in Bucharest. His colleague from the same high school, Laura Ioana Georgescu and Bogdan Sitaru, a student from the National College Dinicu Golescu in Campulung Muscel received one silver medal each.

The Summer Garden in Eforie Sud is hosting the Cinemascope Film Festival

The Cinemascope Film Festival starts on Thursday in the Romanian sea resort of Eforie Sud. For seven days, the audience is invited to watch European movies and take part in several workshops and activities. Radio Romania is a media partner at the event. As of today, the Summer Garden in Eforie Sud will open every day at 4:00 PM, with creative workshops for children, who will be able to paint, draw and make objects that stimulate their imagination. At 9:00 PM, movie projections are scheduled. There will be seven European movies, which will be preceded by a a short film and an animation. The Italian production „Women in my life”, by Fausto Brizzi is opening the festival on Thursday evening. On Monday, the Czech movie „The Firemen Ball”, by the famous Miloš Forman will be played and on August the 7th the audience will watch the film „Infinite Football” by Corneliu Porumboiu. The event is organized by The Czech Centre in Bucharest and EUNIC Romania, a member of the European Union National Institutes for Culture.

The Romanian National Bank is introducing a bank note featuring the wartime hero Ecaterina Teodoroiu

The Romanian National Bank (BNR) is due to put into currency a bank note next year with the nominal value of 20 RON, which will wear the head of Ecaterina Teodoroiu, the hero who died in fighting during the First World War. It will be the first time when the portrait of a Romanian woman will be imprinted in a circulating bank note. Last year, the image of Queen Marry was printed on the anniversary bank note for the collection dedicated to the Centenary of the Great Union in December the 1st, 1918.
