Foreign citizens found while trying to enter Romania illegally in a refrigerated truck

Several citizens from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan have been detained by border guards in Calafat while trying to enter the country illegally. The 15 men were hiding in the refrigerated trailer of a truck driven by a Greek citizen. The vehicle was registered in Bulgaria and was bound for Italy. Taking into account the risk analysis, the control team made up of Romanian and Bulgarian policemen carried out a thorough inspection of the vehicle. That was how they found the imigrants hiding in the frontal part of the refrigerated trailer. The foreigners were all men, aged between 18 and 40. They said they got in the truck in Greece, aided by a citizen whose identity they did not know. They paid 6,000 euros each, with the intention of reaching Italy. The 15 men were taken over by the Bulgarian authorities for further investigation.

The Romanian Foreign Minister is holding talks with his Slovak counterpart in Bucharest

Political consultations are held in Bucharest on Tuesday, between Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu and his Slovak counterpart, Miroslav Lajčák. The head of Slovak diplomacy will also be welcomed by President Klaus Iohannis and by the acting Prime Minister, Ludovic Orban. The discussions are aimed at boosting cooperation in areas of common interest, as well as exchanging views on regional, European and international developments. The foreign ministers will analyze the stage and the possibilities of developing the bilateral political dialogue, and also at economic and sectoral level.

One of the most advanced drones in the world, showcased at Campia Turzii Air Base in Romania

One of the most advanced drones in the world has been showcased on Tuesday at the Câmpia Turzii Air Base in Romania. It is a combat tool of the US Army, which is taking part in an exercise along with the Romanian military these days. The drone presented in the exercises at Campia Turzii was used in several operations of the US Army, including in the killing of Iranian General Soleimani. This drone is also used in the Romanian-American exercise Dacian Reaper. This exercise is attended by US military from Detachment 2 of the Expeditionary Operations Group 52. The unit is currently located in Miroslawiec, Poland and is based in Spangdahlem, Germany. The US soldiers are training along the Romanian personel who routinely carry out their activity at Air Base 71 in Campia Turzii.
