Medicine producers ask for a new method to calculate drug prices

Medicine producers ask for a new method to calculate drug prices or modifying the existing one, condemning wrongly calculating some treatments. Also, patients’ representatives ask for a delay in publicizing the order concerning medicine prices, in order to find the best solution. The President of the Association of Patients with autoimmune diseases, Rozalia Lepădatu, has drawn attention that, after the last change, 70 innovative medicines appeared. A group will study the way legislation concerning price policies can change so that commitments are met until April the 1st, said Andrei Baciu, the Heath Minister. “The price calculus, as far as medicines policies are concerned, is a complex one, one that targets the clawback tax, a problem that we have worked a lot on recently, many scenarios have been analyzed and things are, at this moment, almost clear, but this only refers to one side of the price dimension in the larger domain of the medicine policy. There are many medicines that cannot be found and that keep disappearing off the market. It has obviously come to unsustainable point, as far as Romanian patients are concerned. Some measures need to be taken. We will bring experts to discuss, be because it is a mainly technical problem, to identify European models and to adapt them to the local context.
