Romania has so far recorded 277 coronavirus cases

In Romania 17 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed on Thursday, which brings the national toll to 277. The Strategic Communication Group also announced that 25 people are now considered cured and have been discharged: 16 in Timisoara, eight in Bucharest and one in Iasi. Patients who tested positive today are aged between 19 and 67 years old. The condition of the infected persons is generally good, but six of them are in intensive care units and one is critically ill, in Craiova. At the moment 3,822 people are quarantined and are being screened for coronavirus. More than 33,700 people are in self-isolation at home and under medical supervision.

Renault, Ford and Pirelly have suspended production at their Romanian factories

The automakers Renault, Ford and Pirelli have temporarily stopped production at Romanian plants due to the coronavirus pandemic. Employees will go into technical unemployment and will benefit from the the rights provided by law for such situations. Representatives of the three companies have said that the activity will be resumed quickly, after the medical crisis ends.

The Romanian Army has suspended participation in the military exercises scheduled in the forthcoming period

The Romanian Army will no longer take part in international military exercises scheduled in the forthcoming period. The Ministry of National Defense has said that the health of the troops and the population is a top priority of the Army, and the decision to cancel the participation was made along with its strategic partners and the host nation countries.
