Emergency session of the Senate to reject the bill on the autonomy of the Szekler county

An emergency meeting was convened in the Senate at 14:00 local time, in order to reject the draft law on the autonomy of the Szekler land tacitly adopted in the Chamber of Deputies. The announcement was made by the interim president of the Senate, Robert Cazanciuc. PSD, which has the largest number of parliamentarians, now wants to reject this initiative. The president of the Chamber of Deputies, the social democrat Marcel Ciolacu, says that PSD also voted against it in the specialized commissions of the Chamber. On the other hand, PNL claims that the tacit adoption of this bill would have been a political agreement between PSD and UDMR. The leader of the liberal deputies, Florin Roman, declares that this is not the first time that PSD plays along the UDMR in the Romanian Parliament./opopescu
