The number of new cases of COVID-19 has again increased in Romania

The number of new cases of COVID-19 has increased again in Romania, but the record figures of the last two weeks have not been reached. 1.256 new diseases were reported after over 25.000 tests. In Bucharest were registered the most new infections, almost 200, followed by Iaşi and Prahova counties, with 72 and, respectively, 65 cases. Ialomiţa was the only region where no new cases appeared. 54 deaths were also reported, two of them beeing people who did not suffer from other diseases. 520 patients are currently hospitalized at Intensive Care units. Since the beginning of the epidemic, more than 81.600 diseases have been confirmed Romania, and 3.421 people died of the disease./opopescu

Two policemen from Iaşi, detained by the National Anticorruption Direction

Two traffic police officers from Iaşi were detained by NAD prosecutors for taking bribes, and two other colleagues are under judicial control for similar offenses. The first two road agents are accused of receiving catering products worth almost 3.000 lei from the manager of a restaurant for almost a year, in order to protect the local drivers who have violated the road legislation from sanctions. The other two police officers under judicial control are being investigated for allegedly providing license plates without complying with the law for local cars, also in exchange for food. The restaurant manager is also prosecuted for bribery and driving a car without a license./opopescu

Canadian fighter jets will be deployed at „Mihail Kogălniceanu” Air Base

Royal Canadian Air Force fighter jets will be deployed to Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base until December. Together with the Romanian military, the Canadians will carry out Reinforced Air Police missions. The Canadian detachment consists of approximately 145 pilots and members of the technical staff with 6 Hornet aircrafts – states the Ministry of National Defense in Bucharest. The Canadians are at the 4-th rotation at Kogălniceanu Air Base in Constanţa County and have performed another mission in Romania at Câmpia Turzii./opopescu
