The Health Minister Vlad Voiculescu and the Secretary of State Andreea Moldovan were dismissed

Prime Minister Florin Cîțu dismissed the Health Minister, Vlad Voiculescu. The revocation request has already been sent to the Cotroceni Palace. The prime minister proposed that the Ministry of Health be led temporarily by Deputy Prime Minister Dan Barna. The Secretary of State Andreea Moldovan – who signed the order introducing new criteria for quarantining localities, an order published in the Official Gazette and of which the Prime Minister would not have known – was also dismissed. The document also needed the approval of CNSU, led by the prime minister, which would not have been obtained. The Prime Minister had a meeting this morning with Deputy Prime Minister Dan Barna, and the Secretary of State Andreea Moldovan was also invited./opopescu

The first doses of Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccine will not be distributed in the territory yet

The Romanian authorities have decided to keep the first 60,000 doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine against COVID, which arrived in the country today, at the National Storage Center in Bucharest. The coordinator of the national immunization campaign, doctor Valeriu Gheorghiță, specified that for the moment the doses will not be distributed in the territory. The first shipment of Johnson & Johnson serum arrived in the country this morning through the Nadlac 2 Border Crossing Point. The American group announced yesterday a delay of delveries tot the European Union, following the occurrence in the United States of rare cases of blood clots in people who received the serum. The European Commission has asked for clarification from the pharmaceutical company./opopescu

Romania reported 4,076 new cases of COVID-19

4,076 new cases of COVID-19 were reported today in Romania, after performing over 37,000 tests. Most new diseases were recorded again in Bucharest: 668. The authorities also announced another 164 deaths associated with the new coronavirus. Over 13,300 people are hospitalized, and there are 1,521 patients in Intensive Care units./opopescu
