Mobile teams from cities will go to the countryside to vaccinate

More than 57.000 people have been vaccinated against COVID in the last 24 hours, and authorities are looking for ways to boost the immunization campaign. PM Florin Cîţu discussed on Monday with the prefects to whom he told that vaccination marathons should be organized in all major cities, but the vaccine should also reach the rural area, where the campaign is too slow. Andrei Șerban reports.
Reporter: Prime Minister Florin Cîțu told the prefects that what went well must be continued, namely the organization of vaccination marathons in cities and municipalities. The prime minister also said that the vaccine must be brought closer to the people, especially to those in rural areas, where the pace of vaccination is slow. Florin Cîţu also specified that his executive’s strategy is to keep the vaccine free for citizens.
Florin Cîţu: In Romania, the vaccine is free and remains free. There is no discussion at this time in the Government to change things. On the contrary, we already have orders made to continue the vaccination campaign in the fall, to continue the vaccination campaign next year, because we do not know exactly how the pandemic will evolve and remain free during this period.
Reporter: The video conference at Victoria Palace was also attended by the coordinator of the national vaccination campaign, Valeriu Gheorghiță, who proposed vaccination marathons in rural areas by uniting several communes. Valeriu Gheorghiță also announced a new concept entitled „The city vaccinates the village”. These are mobile teams from the city, which will go to the countryside to vaccinate. (RADIO ROMANIA)
